Eagle Rock Reservation, West Orange NJ
Six legs, two antennas, and 1/16 of an inch long; an ant. That's what it feels like to be at the top of an overlook. My entire life in Jersey these experiences came every once in awhile, as places like the ones below are hard to find. The experience of seeing the huge valley from New Jersey to New York and feeling so tiny, like an ant, is so rare. I feel like the whole view could just gobble me up.
The Eagle Rock Reservation is a four-hundred plus acre park along the Watchung Mountains ridge line located between West Orange, Montclair, and Verona. Possibly the best overlook of the city ever (around here, that is). It gives you a closer look at the city than Washington Rock does. It is actually a nine eleven memorial, which means they keep the trees cut so the view doesn't get obstructed or over grown. If you're a car enthusiast and love to drive, there is a road right off the reservation called "Crest Drive". It serves the driver with a down hill/up hill drive and four long, tight, hair pin curves. In my opinion, it is definitely worth the drive just to drive on that road.
